What are the benefits of eating strawberries?
It is rich in nutrients, including vitamin C, fiber, potassium, and antioxidants, which promote a range of wellness benefits.
Another excellent benefit of strawberries is that strawberries contain melatonin, a natural sleep helper. When my son was a little boy, I made him a small bowl every night for dessert, and he never had any issues sleeping.
Ingredients needed to make this wonderful dessert
Strawberries – fresh, cleaned, and the stem and white parts were removed. Slice them.
Red wine – a rich red wine that you would enjoy is the best for this dessert. May I suggest a Pinot Noir?
Sugar – it is the perfect sweetener and adds richness to your strawberries when marinating with the wine.
How to make strawberries with wine
This is the world’s easiest recipe, as it takes only three ingredients: fresh strawberries, good-quality red wine, and sugar.
- Clean and remove the stem and white part of the strawberries. Gently dry them with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Slice strawberries into quarters and place them in a container.
- Add the sugar and the wine.
- Stir well until the sugar is dissolved and the strawberries are well coated.
At this junction, you can store them in an airtight container and place them in the refrigerator until ready to use them.
Or let them rest at room temperature for fifteen minutes before enjoying them.
Pro Tip
- Letting your strawberries marinate in the red wine will allow you to infuse them and make them richer in flavor. Fifteen minutes is all you need if you are strapped for time.
Making this dessert for children
Our children can have the same dessert; omit the wine and add some raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Squeeze a few drops of lemon and add sugar. Mix them in a large bowl and serve them at the same time.
To make it even more special, add some chantilly or a couple of butter cookies just for them. They will love you,

I love the flexibility of this recipe.
- Some fresh whipped Chantilly cream is fantastic with it.
- Sugar cookies can also be dipped in wine when all the strawberries are gone.
I hope you will enjoy it as much as we always have.
Have extra strawberries on hand?
Pancakes are a great way to utilize them.
I made strawberry jam with them, and it was always a hit.
Strawberry shortcake with store-bought angel cake.
Do not forget that you can also make this fabulous Strawberry Apple Pie with them.
Over a large slice of French Pound Cake. The wine will seep through, and the taste will be out of this world.
Sliced and added to your spinach salad, a light vinaigrette, and you have a light lunch already made.
How To Store Fresh Strawberries
Place your unwashed strawberries in an airtight container lined with a paper towel; this will absorb any extra moisture created. You can keep them in the refrigerator for up to five days.
I recommend storing them on a single layer so you will not cause any bruising.
You can also freeze them for a month or so. Ensure they are completely dry with a towel before putting them into freezer bags. If you can vacuum seal them, it would be perfect.
