Why you will love this homemade pumpkin pie spice?

Making your own will cost you a fraction of the cost of a jar at the grocery store, and it is super easy. I bet you already have all the needed spices in your pantry, just waiting to be assembled.

Store it in a cute jar, and you are ready to be baker extraordinaire the whole season.

What is pumpkin pie spice made of?

Pumpkin spice, or pumpkin pie spice, is a mixture of ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground nutmeg, ground allspice, and ground cloves.

Does pumpkin pie spice have pumpkin in it?

There is no pumpkin in the pumpkin pie mix. The name is in reference to the spice blend used to flavor pumpkin pie and other pumpkin desserts.

How long can pumpkin pie spice be stored?

This depends on how you store your spices. I always recommend storing it in an air-tight glass container in a cool, dark cupboard and away from direct heat and or sunlight. Properly stored it can last up to two years.

Ingredients needed to make your Pumpkin Pie Spice

Pumpkin pie spice is a blend of four to five different ground spices.

The wonderful thing about making your own blend, is that you can increase or decrease the spice you like most or least. Or even leave it out if you so wish.

Before you start, ensure that all your spices are still within the expiration date. Expired spices lose their potency and flavor over time.

Uses for your Pumpkin Pie Spice

This spice blend is terrific with anything pumpkin. For any recipes you may top with cinnamon, sprinkle a dash of this spice blend instead.

Stir it in your morning coffee with a bit of sugar.

Top your cappuccino or add it with some yogurt with a dash of sugar to cut down the bitterness.

Your morning toast by mixing it with the butter, and a bit of sugar, and you can turn an ordinary toast into something a little more fall-flavorful.

Pumpkin spiced lattes are my family favorite, with added white and dark chocolate.
